Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Russian Federal Nuclear Center — Zababakhin All—Russia Research Institute of technical Physics» (former VNIIP) is one of the two world-class nuclear-weapons centers operating in Russia. It is a complex of research and design institutions, experimental production sites, and infrastructure divisions. Its core mission is to solve scientific and engineering problems aimed at development and testing of strategic and tactic nuclear explosives and nuclear munitions, peaceful use of nuclear and thermonuclear energy, pursuing basic and applied research in the field of hydrodynamics, turbulence and high energy density physics. The Institute exercises author’s and warranty supervision of nuclear explosives and munitions throughout their life cycle: from designing to decommissioning and disposal of basic components. The Institute ensures proper stewardship of Russian nuclear stockpile deployed in the military detachments, since more than a half was developed by VNIITF.
